Legend of Wan Hu
This picture book concept explores the legendary tale of Wan Hu, a scholar believed to have lived during the Ming Dynasty who is often dubbed the world’s first astronaut. In one version of the story, he strapped 47 gunpowder rockets to a chair and disappeared into the stars. While some see a whimsical myth, others see a powerful symbol of human imagination and ambition. A crater on the moon is named in his honor.
